How often do you communicate with your patients? Obviously, when they come into the office for treatment, you talk to them about their oral health and make small talk about what’s happening in their lives. But with social media and blogging, you have a unique opportunity to maintain communication with your patients outside of your visits, communication that keeps them informed about your office, and potentially reaches other people in their circle. There’s plenty of reasons to keep your patients in the loop!
Personal Stories
When you share your personal experiences, you can help forge a connection with your patients. For example, when you discuss dental anxiety and possible solutions, why not mention the fact that at one time you yourself might have been nervous about the dentist? This is just one example, but it shows how in your blog posts and statuses, you can show patients that you understand what they’re going through and that as a dental professional, you can help in a caring way. Now, that doesn’t mean you should be an open book and share every personal detail about your life, keep the stories you share relevant to dentistry/patient experiences (and appropriate!).
Office Events
Let patients know what’s happening in the office! Did you get a new team member? Has an employee recently retired? Do you have an office party or event? Recently, we had a client sharing posts about the office pumpkin decorating contest on his social media pages. While dentistry should be your main focus, don’t be afraid to share a few fun holiday and event-oriented items on your pages.
In fact, at MDPM Consulting we would love to see pictures of our clients’ decorated office or fun costumes to share on our social media pages as well, so feel free to send them our way!
Promotions and Special Events
Are you running a holiday-related promotion? Do you have a discount or are you taking part in a local event, such as a fall festival or a trunk or treating event? Then share! These are also great topics for social media posts and blogs.
