Social media can be an excellent way to maintain a connection with your patients, improve SEO, and hopefully, gain some leads. But as a dentist, how do you make the most out of social media, specifically Instagram? Let’s look at how to share pictures, create the best hashtags, and let your social networking accounts help your practice grow!
Tell a Story
Instagram is much more visual than other social media platforms, like Twitter or Facebook. Of course, you have room to write a post about your image, but the image itself needs to be able to grab a person’s attention and tell part of the story on its own. For our clients, we often recommend sharing before and after photos of treatments, pictures of patients that have won a recent prize or raffle, or an image talking about a recent special or promotion. We’ve actually created several of these images for our patients, which they can share on Facebook or Instagram, to get the word out about a promotion. We tend to use bold fonts and eye-grabbing colors to ensure they don’t fade into the background of a person’s feed.
A very vital part of the experience! While Twitter also uses them, Instagram has a much larger reliance on hashtags. Be creative, you have can have up to 30 of them! Our clients will hashtag their city, practice, community, or anything else related to the image they share.
Edit Your Photo
You have tons of filters available! In addition, be sure you adjust the photo to make sure it fits properly. You don’t want to cut anyone out of the picture because you didn’t resize and adjust the image before posting.
