Staying competitive, especially in a community with multiple practices, can be tough for a dentist. An online marketing strategy, along with a smart local SEO plan, can help you stay more competitive. But what about paid advertisement? We often have clients ask us about Google AdWords. In today’s blog, we’re going to discuss the potential benefits, as well as the drawbacks, of paid advertisement for dental practices.
While definitely not the best option for many dental practices, we have used Google AdWords as a temporary solution as we implement a client’s organic SEO strategy. For example, if we’re starting a new marketing plan for a dentist in a highly competitive area, we may use AdWords initially, but suspend later on.
While they can definitely get clicks, you have to remember that people recognize ads on a Google results page and often avoid them. In addition, a dentist is a highly personal service. For that reason, people tend to look at reviews, an online presence, and personal recommendations when selecting a dentist, not necessarily a slick paid advertising campaign. Not to mention, a competitor could potentially click your ads over and over to exhaust your budget and prevent them from working for you anyway (sounds petty? We agree, but we’ve heard of this happening before). Again, whether or not this is the best choice for you depends on multiple factors, but we would be happy to work with you and find out!
