Websites don’t grow better with age. In fact, an older website can have a negative impact on SEO and turn people away. After all, would you let someone with an ancient website near your mouth? If their site is out of date, wouldn’t assume the same for their approach to dentistry? In today’s blog, we’re going to look at when to consider a redesign.
How Old is Your Website?
A major factor in whether you should consider an update is your website’s age. If you’ve had the same design for five or more years, then you’re probably overdue for a redesign. What we expect from a website, and what we find to be esthetically-pleasing, changes at a rapid pace. Right now, people prefer simpler, flat designs. Older sites tend to be bulky, hard to navigate, and have very poor esthetics. For example, check out actor Brendan Fraser’s website from 2005. At the time? A nice website. Now? Not so much. (We love you Mr. Fraser, if you want to discuss redesign options feel free to contact us).
Are You Mobile Friendly?
If you look at your website on a smartphone, what do you see? If you have a miniature version of your desktop site, then you’re in trouble. You want a mobile-friendly option that people can navigate easily on phones and tablets. Otherwise, people will simply leave your site and move on to another dentist. Google even started mobile-first indexing, in which special priority is given when ranking websites to those with mobile-friendly options.
