A lot of work goes into creating and maintaining a good website. For that reason, many practice owners are hesitant to make changes or updates, even years down the line. However, a website isn’t a building, it isn’t carved in stone and for good reason. Online, the world moves even faster and what was top-of-the-line just three years ago can seem dated now. Do you have questions about updating your website?
Frequent Asked Questions About Updating Your Website
Question: How often should I update?
Answer: We recommend every three to five years. However, we do look at a number of factors when deciding if a website needs a complete overhaul or a few minor updates. Basically, does it provide quality content for Google’s bots to crawl and index? Is it mobile-friendly? Can people easily navigate the site to find contact information? Is the site esthetically pleasing to the eye? An outdated one will often be a “no” on two or more of these factors.
Question: Should my new site be mobile-friendly?
Answer: Absolutely. Now, more people use smartphones and tablets to search online than desktops or laptops. When a site isn’t mobile-friendly, it is difficult to view and navigate on a phone and as a result, people will simply leave, costing you a potential lead.
Question: What happens if I hang onto my old site?
Answer: If you were looking for a dentist and you found an incredibly outdated website, how confident would you feel in their services? Unfortunately, most people absolutely judge a book by its cover online. An outdated design may lead people to believe the dentist and the treatments offered could be outdated as well.
Question: Can you help?
Answer: Absolutely! We can take a look at your site and see what, if anything, needs to change. Remember, we have a team of talented technicians, graphic designers, and copywriters to help create a brand new or redesigned dental website for your dental practice.
