According to HigherVisibility, over two-thirds of top ranking business websites include keywords in their URLs. Over the years, many experts have downplayed the importance of keyword placement in a website address, but these results show that this may be something worth doing as part of your online marketing strategy.
How Do I Integrate Them Into My URL?
For our clients, we often focus on city and services. For example, a dentist that focuses primarily on cosmetic dentistry may have the URL teethwhiteningdallas.com. For those who focus mainly on specific services, such as sleep apnea or dental implants, you may also include the city and state as well as the keyword. However, if the name of your practice is something like “Dallas General Dentistry” then you may not need to alter what your URL would be.
Organic Long-Tail Keyword Placement Elsewhere
As far as the rest of your copy, we suggest placing keywords in the headings, and if possible, in the text. However, long-tail keywords should not exceed three to five mentions per page.
