Search Engine Land is an excellent resource for the latest news and discussions about marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). Recently, they featured an article written by Pratik Dholakiya, about six businesses that benefit from local SEO. We weren’t surprised to see dental offices made the list. When incorporated correctly, local can offer a serious boost to your traffic, rankings, and retention.
What’s A Good Local SEO Strategy?
Content! While there are other very important things to add to your website (which we cover in the next section), without quality content your local strategy suffers. As a dentist, you have plenty to write about. Your blog can be updated several times a week, providing Google with a steady stream of unique and well-written content. You can include FAQs, office updates, or a look at different procedures, or oral health issues that your patients should be aware of. In addition, you can always update the content of your site as you add staff, treatments, new technology, etc. Your new content gives Google’s bots fresh information to crawl and index, increasing your chance for higher rankings in a local search.
What Should My Website Include?
First, your website needs to be mobile friendly. We cannot stress this enough. Mobile is the future, and most people search for services or information using a phone instead of a desktop or laptop. You also need accurate citations (name, address, and phone number), organic links and keyword placement, and accurate Google My Business information.
