With Halloween over and November in full swing, the holiday season is officially upon us. As a dentist, your blog is a unique way to reach your patients with promotions and information about oral health care. But what should you blog about during the holidays?
Healthy Smile Habits
Our winter holidays, which include (but definitely aren’t limited to) Hanukkah, Christmas, and Thanksgiving, all involve eating candy and sugary desserts. With that in mind, this is a great time of year to remind people what steps are necessary to avoid the onset of tooth decay and gum problems. You can recommend healthy alternatives, and cover the correct ways to brush and floss.
Possible Gift Ideas
You can also include smile-healthy gift ideas. For adults and teens, you can recommend giving electric toothbrushes or teeth whitening kits. You can also recommend gift sets that include toothbrushes and toiletries with their children’s favorite cartoon characters. With a holiday that can increase the risk of tooth decay, these gifts can help protect smiles and remind your patients about the importance of oral health care.
This one is twofold. You can remind patients that they should use their benefits before 2016 ends and they expire. You can also let patients know they can make appointments for January when the new benefits begin.
Remember to share your blog posts on your social media pages. Doing so allows current patients to see them. If they share or like the content, the chances of other people seeing your posts–and potentially giving your office a call–increases. In addition, both blogging and maintaining an active social media presence can improve your search engine optimization or SEO. If you have any questions about blogging or social media, including questions regarding our new social media kit, give us a call. Remember, MDPM Consulting is always here to help!
