In 2015 the marketing firm Mintel surveyed over 2,000 adults for their American Lifestyles review. The poll reveals how reviews factor into consumer decisions. It shows that over 70 percent of consumers rely on online reviews before buying a product or using a service. As you can see, having positive online reviews is essential for a successful online marketing strategy.
How Important are Reviews?
With the Internet, we have access to loads of information that simply wasn’t readily available 20 or 30 years ago. Now, before a person makes a purchase, he/she will research online. In fact, the study we mentioned above shows that 81 percent of people will discuss a product or service with someone online before making a purchase. One of the easiest ways to see if a product or service is worthwhile is to look at what people are saying. So having positive feedback from your patients easily available on your website, social media pages, and on Google+ can be essential to attracting new patients.
How Do You Obtain Testimonials and Reviews?
So now that we know how important they are, how do you garner reviews? First, simply ask. Talk to your patients who have had a positive experience and ask them to leave feedback. You can also offer incentives. We’ve discussed this before, the “Have a Cup of Coffee on Us” route. It’s easy. Simply offer a $5 Starbucks gift card in exchange for positive feedback on your social media pages.
What if you have negative reviews? You should always respond to a negative review. One negative review can cost you 22 percent of your clientele, according to a recent Google Consumer Survey commissioned by moz.com. So, don’t ignore them, and never attack the person leaving the feedback. Rather, respond politely, inviting them to call you and discuss the problem so a solution can be reached. In some cases, the person may even take the review down on their own accord. In addition, you look like a professional and trustworthy person.
