If you’ve been following along with our blog in the new year — especially with our Team Member Tuesday posts — you’ll know that we’re making an effort to adhere to the the current buzzword in online marketing: transparency. As part of this effort, we want to debunk a myth that is common in the world of SEO and digital marketing.
Is SEO guaranteed?
As an SEO and online marketing agency, we want our clients’ web presences to perform well. It’s our job that they perform well. Because of this, sometimes it’s hard to resist pitching that we’ll help our clients and potential clients rank #1 on Google for their competitive keywords. But here’s the truth:
SEO isn’t guaranteed.
We wholeheartedly agree with Forbes’ statement that “SEO is part art, and part science, but no one can know what is required to rank No. 1 for a specific term. Google’s algorithms are too obscure for anyone to make that specific a guarantee.”
For this reason, we never guarantee rankings. Instead, we guarantee to do everything in our power and to enlist all of our knowledge and expertise to help you rank as high as possible for your keyword/term goals. Rankings on page 1 are always our goal, and higher is always better.
On the same note, we urge anyone looking to build their online web presence to avoid working with SEO experts who guarantee rankings. Promises involving increased traffic and a large amount of growth in a short amount of time should also be warning signs.
Is SEO instant?
If you’re a newer MDPM Consulting client, you’ve probably heard us say that solid SEO requires time to be successful. Although this statement is true, it’s not the easiest for us to say. Why? Because we’re human, and we want our clients to receive instant gratification for taking the correct steps to become competitive with their online marketing efforts. Unfortunately, that’s just not how SEO works. SEO needs time and know-how.
So, instead of making false promises to our clients, we do the following:
- design and execute an SEO strategy that fits your practice’s unique needs
- identify keyword goals to reach your target audience in your target location
- create original, optimized, accurate content that works toward your keyword goals
- adhere to the most up-to-date SEO and UX (user experience) standards when it comes to web design, content creation, and web presence management
- provide full-time technical support and consulting services
- and much more
Of course, we’re always here to answer questions and to help you strategize about the next move for your online marketing efforts.
